Children Encounter Mathematics (Kinder begegnen Mathematik) is a collection of learning situations for teaching the initial building blocks of mathematics. It guides boys and girls from the age of four through their first encounters with mathematics themes to a confident understanding of "one plus one".
The teaching suggestions take into account each childs previous knowledge and motivates him or her toward actively dealing with mathematics. The children can gather diverse experiences with mathematics, discover phenomena and mathematic laws, recognize connections, and develop skills.
